Sponsored Review: Aqua Rine Japanese Aroma Bath Sea Salt in Chili, Peach and Rose

Sponsored Review

You know, I’m a huge fan of Watsons - I shop there all the time! It’s a great place for stocking up on your bath and skin care products (and yummy snacks!). When I’m there, I also check out products which I’ve reviewed on the blog. It makes me happy when they fly off the shelves; shows that lots of people are using (and enjoying) them! Sasa is another popular store I like to visit. I get my makeup sponges there. :)

Are you stocking up on beauty essentials as well? Do you usually stick to a trusted brand or buy a couple to try out? Personally, I have a few brands of body scrubs which I put on rotation, simply because I love variety in bath products! Imagine using a different scent or texture of body scrub each week – just adds more fun to your beauty routine!

If you’re going shopping at Watsons or Sasa, check out the Aqua Rine Japanese Aroma Bath Sea Salt range of body exfoliants! There are six delicious variants in the range, namely Peach, Sakura, Rose, Chili (yes, chili!), Milk, and Tea, to cater to your needs and preferences. In addition to the wonderful variety, each variant is also available in two textures: fine and coarse. Now you’re spoilt for choice!

Thanks to the lovely folks at Beaute Inn, I’m reviewing the Chili, Peach and Rose variants today. :D

DIY Lunch/Snack Recipe: Tuna Stuffed Avocados

Avocados! Those, and tuna… and yoghurt!

Many people shun avocados because of its high fat content. However, it’s mostly monounsaturated fat, which is actually good for the heart! Besides that, avocados also have more potassium than bananas, are rich in Vitamins B, E and K, and are high in fiber content. Need another reason to eat avocados? They are extremely yummy!

I had an avocado smoothie recently, but I found it to be a little too sweet (the store assistant added some sugar and used full cream milk in the smoothie! *gasp*) – I think I may try my hand at making one myself using low-fat milk and no sugar. Honestly though, I like avocados best when sliced and with low-fat milk. :)

Tuna, another of my favourite foods, is an excellent source of lean protein, Omega 3, and Vitamin B. I like to buy canned tuna in water (Skye thinks I’m nuts). Totally home-made tuna sandwiches!

And yoghurt – probably one of the best foods ever – has live bacterial cultures (the good ones!) and is high in calcium. My favourite yogurt is Marigold’s Non Fat Yoghurt. Yoghurt makes a good dressing in place of mayonnaise, too.

Well, if you’re just like me, you’ll probably love what I’m gonna share today! Combine three of my favourite foods, and what do you get? Tuna stuffed avocados!

You will need:

  • About 150g of tuna flakes (I used Ayam Brand’s Tuna Flakes in Water)
  • About 100g of plain yoghurt (I used Emmi’s Swiss Premium Plain Low Fat Yoghurt – my favourite brand was not available)
  • Two ripe avocados
  • Salt and pepper to taste (optional)

Jade In the Press: Ginvera Advertisement in My Paper《我报》on Tuesday, 18 January 2011 (Front page)

Remember my sponsored review on Ginvera’s Green Tea Whitening Marvel Gel and Jade Dark Eye Circles Roll Away?

Well, a couple of weeks ago, The Sample Store contacted me to say that I was one of the few bloggers selected to be featured in Ginvera’s upcoming advertisement. I was thrilled! :) I omitted to ask when and where the ad was going to be published, though.

This morning, Skye’s aunt wrote on my Facebook wall saying that she had seen my review of Ginvera’s Marvel Gel on My Paper 《我报》 and that she will let me have a copy of it when she sees me over Lunar New Year (thanks, Gim!). She said it was in fact one of Skye’s uncle’s colleagues who had spotted me (he had seen my Facebook profile before) – keen eyesight! :)

From the above, you can probably tell that I don’t read the papers. I prefer to get my news dosage off Google News (with all that talk about saving Mother Earth, I guess that’s my way of helping out!). Anyways, the ad was published on the front page of My Paper 《我报》 on Tuesday, 18 January 2011. I have to admit nothing beats seeing it in hard copy, but till then, here’s a soft copy of the page which I found at MyPaper.sg. Spot me yet? :P

What I’m Reading: “Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady” by Derek Blasberg

I used to read a lot. In the recent decade, though, I have less time to myself and as such, neglected reading. Okay, maybe it was just a matter of making an effort to set aside reading time, but somehow reading wasn’t a priority anymore. To be completely honest, the last book I read cover to cover was Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol. A year ago.

I’ve decided that I want to cultivate the reading habit again. I won’t make it a resolution (we all know resolutions last as long as fake tans). Instead, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for hot titles on the book charts and hopefully I’ll manage a classic or two in between.

Recently, I came across a recommendation on this title in a fashion magazine (on average, I only read one fash mag per month). Unlike Skye, I don’t have the habit of collecting books, or reading the same title twice (unless it’s law-related), so I popped by the library and borrowed it. I like to put on my geeky glasses when in the library.

Product Review: Freeman Avocado & Oatmeal Facial Clay Mask

No beauty regime is complete without a clay mask. If you have never used one, you should totally start right now!

In addition to your regular cleanser and exfoliator, you should also use a good clay mask at least once a week. Clay masks purify the skin by purging the pores of grime and dirt, leaving your skin clean and soft. Deep cleansing is a must.

Meet my Holy Grail skin care product – the Freeman Avocado & Oatmeal Facial Clay Mask. It has been a part of my life since… I can’t recall exactly when… perhaps 7, 8 years ago? See, that’s how long it has been! I’ve gone through countless tubes of this stuff since I started. That’s how awesome it is. ;) If you’d like to have clearer skin without breaking the bank, here’s the solution!

Exhibition: Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future at Resorts World Sentosa

On the 1st day of January 2011, I went to Resorts World Sentosa for a fashion exhibition – Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future, tickets with compliments from L’Officiel Magazine.

The heavy rain did not stop the enthusiastic crowd from heading towards the little island full of tourist attractions just a quarter of a mile off the southern coast. The place was so packed! Frankly speaking, I cannot recall the last time I visited Sentosa; I have lots of catching up to do!

Held at the Resorts World Convention Centre from 22 December 2010 to 13 February 2011, the exhibition boasts one hundred haute couture pieces from Valentino. These include works from early days of Valentino Garavani to contemporary designs by present Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli.

Classic actresses such as Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor and modern day celebrities including the likes of Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston are some of the many famous people dressed by the world-renowned Italian fashion house. This exhibition draws you right into their fascinating world of timeless fashion and art. You will be extremely taken, trust me. ;)

So, here we are! I love the look of the entrance. It seems to be saying, “Come in and be amazed.” (NB: Go to Hard Rock Cafe soon!)

WordPress.com Challenge: Post a Week 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR, FOLKS! :D

How was your New Year’s Eve / New Year’s Day? Yesterday, I shopped all day and bought a ton of stuff! And of course I stayed up at home for the countdown and slept only at 3am. I started the first morning of the year with McD’s brekkie. Thereafter, headed to Resorts World Sentosa for the Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future exhibition, which was awesome! I’m working on a blog post on the same and hopefully it’ll be up within the week. ;)

The folks at WordPress.com issued a challenge for 2011 and I thought I’d take it up. In order to motivate bloggers to blog more, an experimental blog, The Daily Post, has been created. There will be a new post on The Daily Post everyday – posts on ideas, suggestions, and inspiration to bloggers. :) As part of the experiment, WordPress is launching two campaigns – Post a Day 2011 (blog daily throughout 2011) and Post a Week 2011 (blog at least once per week throughout 2011).

I’m always busy – I’ll have something to do, somewhere to go, some stuff to plan. Despite that, I make time to blog. Blogging has become a part of my life since I started last year, and I intend to keep it that way. I’ve decided continue to publish at least one blog post per week for all of 2011. It will not be easy, but I know at the end of 2011 I’ll look back and think, “What an achievement!” Support me, will you? ;)
