Jade on 8flo Lifestyle: Upcoming Events at the National Museum of Singapore

Do you have a favourite online magazine or beauty/lifestyle portal? I frequent a handful of sites for the latest scoops on everything – beauty products, general wellness, where to go for the weekend, the coolest exhibitions in town, etc.

Of course, there’s always Facebook to provide bite-sized, up-to-the-minute news on all of my interests! :)

If you haven’t already done so, check out 8flo Lifestyle, an online community portal for, well, a lot of things! From entertainment, fashion and beauty to books, dining and travel, 8flo provides you with information on what’s in.

I’m glad I got the opportunity to contribute a couple of articles to 8flo Lifestyle (thanks Kristen!). :) This week, I wrote two articles on upcoming events at the National Museum of Singapore. Fashionistas and film enthusiasts, look out! This March, the Museum has a couple of events lined up just for you. From 2 to 13 March, there will be a retrospective on renowned filmmaker, Edward Yang. From 16 March to 13 June, feast your eyes on a Little Black Dress exhibition, featuring works from various designers (including Karl Lagerfeld!). Do check out the articles and explore the portal. ;)

Have fun surfing while I decide which shower gels and body scrubs to buy next. As of now, I have zero body scrubs!  My Soap & Glory and Crabtree & Evelyn shower gels are running out fast. Help!

J

Jade In the Press: Feature In Heme Singapore’s Beauty Bloggers’ Review Section

Hi guys, how’s your week been so far? This week, I’m reading The Gospel According to Coco Chanel: Life Lessons from the World’s Most Elegant Woman by Karen Karbo. Will write a review when I’m done reading it! :)

For now, here’s a piece of news to share! Back in November 2010, I wrote a sponsored review on Heme’s hydrating skin care series. Well, Heme Singapore recently launched their website, and yours truly is featured in their bloggers’ review section! ;)

Sponsored Review: Silkygirl Magic BB Cream in 01 Natural

Sponsored Review

What is your preferred product for coverage? Is it liquid, cream or powder foundation? Or a simple tinted moisturiser? What about BB (short for Blemish Balm) Cream?

The BB Cream craze saw lots of makeup fans scrambling to sweep them off the shelves. Gradually, more brands started to produce their own BB Creams and with that came a variety of selection available on the market. Avid fans of the BB Cream would have probably amassed a collection by now! ;)

Remember the Silkygirl goodie bag? I picked this out from the bag – Magic BB Cream in 01 Natural! This is the first of the ten items in the bag which I’ll be reviewing. How exciting! :)

Product Review: Crabtree & Evelyn Jojoba Oil Moisturising Body Wash

I remember my first Crabtree & Evelyn item – Jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-ba) Oil Triple Milled Soap with Shea Butter. That was more than a decade ago! There’s something captivating about the Jojoba Oil range. It’s my absolute favourite range. Since then, whenever I crave a wonderful shower scent, I turn to Crabtree & Evelyn.

Btw, last Christmas (which was actually just a couple of months ago), I received some Crabtree & Evelyn stuff – a box of three Rosewater hand creams and a bottle of Rosewater Eau Fraiche. They smell wonderful! I love the scent of roses.

With the plethora of bath products out there, how many of you actually stick to using just one brand or type of shower gel? I use a few and rotate them a bit, but Crabtree & Evelyn’s Jojoba Oil Moisturising Body Wash remains a staple in my bathroom.

Doesn’t it look delicious? Just like a tube full of honey! XD Okay, maybe I’m just hungry.

Product Review: Benefit Cosmetics Crescent Row Laugh With Me LeeLee Eau de Toilette

Benefit Cosmetics is undoubtedly one of the quirkiest brands around. With witty names and fun packaging, their products never fail to attract attention. These ingenious ideas extend beyond makeup – their fragrances are equally cleverly designed! ;)

A while back, I picked up one of their Crescent Row fragrances, Laugh With Me LeeLee. I wrote about Crescent Row briefly in this post. Let’s have a closer look at LeeLee today! :)

Okay, so we’re at LeeLee’s doorstep - a nicely polished door, a beautiful garden… looks like a really nice place to live in! I feel kind of tempted to play the “knock knock” game, LOL!

Product Review: Soap & Glory Mini Hand Food

Confession: Until recently, I have almost always neglected my hands. There, I said it. And I don’t mean it in the disgusting nail-chewing kind of way. Eww.

I paint my nails almost every week (I usually wear a particular nail colour for a week, sometimes two, depending on my mood). Nail lacquer removers can be very drying to the skin. And all that typing on the keyboard, flipping of books, the frequent paper cuts, hand-washing, etc… I have a pair of very busy hands! Well, who doesn’t? :P But, how often do we actually pay attention to them and give them the TLC they deserve?

It wasn’t until last year when Soap & Glory hit our local Sephora that I seriously considered using a hand cream. Previously, I wasn’t inclined to use hand creams on a regular basis because they (at least, those that I had tried) were greasy and/or left a strange film on my hands, which is kind of icky!

Oh, how I love Soap & Glory products! If you haven’t checked them out, you must! All (and I do mean all) of their products smell so good. Which explains why pink is taking over my bathroom! One of these awesome pink products is Soap & Glory’s Hand Food… Mini!

Konad Stamping Houndstooth Nail Art Tutorial

I’m so glad I finally got around to writing this post! I picked up some Konad stuff a few months ago, and since then used them only twice. I bought the stamping set (which consists of a double-sided Stamper and a Scraper), a special nail polish in black for printing nail designs, and the image plate m63.

Introducing My Custom 1:6 Scale Kitbash: Mountain Ops Sniper, “Captain Jack”

Okay, here’s something you probably didn’t know and didn’t expect to know about me – I’m interested in action figures too! ;) To be specific, 1:6 scale action figures. My favourite brand is Hot Toys.

The hobby started sometime in 2007, but honestly speaking, I haven’t been spending much time on it due to work and other stuff (i.e. beauty, fashion, etc.). However, I still frequent One Sixth Warriors, a site where avid 1:6 fans gather, discuss and share photos of the hobby (I think it’s sort of male-dominated though). I doubt any of my One Sixth Warriors friends will be reading this, but if you are, HELLO! :P

I have been planning to do up a diorama for the longest time! That aside, I thought of showing you my first custom kitbash. I did this sometime in 2008. Say hello to my Mountain Ops Sniper, Captain Jack! Does he look familiar? :)

Product Review: OPI Shrek Forever After Fiercely Fiona Nail Lacquer

Just to recap, there are six colours in the OPI Shrek Forever After collection, namely Funky Dunkey, What’s With the Cattitude?, Rumple’s Wiggin’, Who the Shrek Are You?, Ogre-the-Top Blue, and Fiercely Fiona.

I own two of the six colours - Rumple’s Wiggin’ and Fiercely Fiona, thanks to my sister (also known as the Fairy Godsister)! I reviewed Rumple’s Wiggin’ in November 2010 and since then, haven’t really had the chance to wear Fiercely Fiona because I was in the mood for neutrals after that (which reminds me, my sister also got me Chanel’s Le Vernis Nail Colour in Particulière for Christmas and OPI’s The Show Must Go On for Lunar New Year – reviews soon!).

A couple of weeks before Lunar New Year, I finally decided it was time to break out the bright hues! Part of the “I” (of OPI) has chipped off – it’s okay I guess, it’s the contents that matter! :)
