Another Happy Day! Surprise Delivery From Soap & Glory

What plans have you got for this fabulous long weekend? I think I’m going shopping! How predictable, heh. ;P

I’ve been reading lately, so you can expect a book review post coming up soon. Besides the usual Chanel stuff, I’ve also started reading the Agatha Raisin series by M.C. Beaton. Over the past three days, I read Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, and I watched the film yesterday. Now I wonder why I ever stopped reading!

So, some of you may have noticed a photo of a Soap & Glory sticker uploaded on my Facebook page about two weeks ago… here’s what it’s all about! :) A surprise parcel from the very lovely folks at Soap & Glory’s London HQ (*waves at Kendall*), for me! I love stickers – the parcel was adorned with Soap & Glory stickers, peppered with wit and humour in that endearing Soap & Glory fashion. :)

Sponsored Review: Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++

Sponsored Review

Early this month, Kiehl’s selected five of their Facebook fans to review the Dermatologist Solutions Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++ as part of their Facebook Tried and Review Challenge. Yours truly was one of the lucky five! ;D

I popped by their store, collected a bagful of samples and miniatures, and promptly submitted my review. Who knew, I turned out to be their star reviewer! Guess I was really lucky. The prize is a 60ml tube of the Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++ (retailing at SGD95).

When I went to pick up my prize, Charissa (from Kiehl’s Plaza Singapura) helped to take a couple of shots of me using their instant camera. It’s kind of overexposed, but still a great keepsake! I love it. My friend Graclyn recently purchased a cute instant camera as well; I think it’s pretty cool! Btw, does anyone know of a good way to preserve a Polaroid? I know part of the beauty is watching it age but I’d really like to prevent the fading, if possible at all. :) (Psst! Read on for photos of me and Maggie Moo!)

Sponsored Review: Silkygirl Hip Hop Eau de Toilette

Sponsored Review

It’s the start of yet another brand new week! What plans do you have for this long weekend? :) I have an event to attend on Friday… you’ll find out soon! :P

Recently, Silkygirl and Silky For Men launched not one but four new fragrances, with the theme “music” in mind. The fragrances are named after two of the most popular music genres, rock and hip hop, resulting in “Silkygirl Rock Eau de Toilette”, “Silkygirl Hip Hop Eau de Toilette”, “SG Men Rock Eau de Toilette”, and “SG Men Hip Hop Eau de Toilette”. For those of you who are fans of couple fragrances, you gotta check this series out!

Today, we take a look at Silkygirl’s Hip Hop Eau de Toilette, which came in the pretty Silkygirl recyclable tote! First of all, the packaging is quite different from the other Silkygirl fragrances. The exterior is a long, rectangular tin in an eye-catching purple. Printed on the tin are colourful graphics, along with the silhouette of a hip hop couple.

Product Review: RoC Hydra+ 24h Comfort Hydrating Cream

So, it’s Saturday – what are you guys up to? Is anyone hitting the ArtScience Museum for Van Gogh Alive – The Exhibition which opens today? I was there for the preview on Thursday evening and boy, the place was amazing! If you’ve always admired Van Gogh’s works, now’s the time to check them out – no, wait - walk right into his paintings! The projections of his works, combined with music and the gallery’s atmosphere, is truly an unforgettable experience. You’ll feel immersed in his works when you view the projections on the gallery walls… kind of like being in the pictures yourself. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out The Museum Shop! I have my eye on the Van Gogh plushie – the one with the detachable ear! ;)

Here’s a photo I took that evening while strolling along the Helix Bridge after previewing the exhibition. Well, what can I say – the view is simply breathtaking! It has a calming effect as well, so if you need a breather, just head there. :)

Back to today’s review – you’ve probably read about how RoC saved my skin in 2004. I’ve been a fan since then! A couple of months ago, I popped by one of the counters to replenish my supply of RoC products (I love speaking with my favourite skin care advisor!) and added these to my shopping basket.

Sorry, I couldn’t help it! Every Friday (in fact, on other days as well), I have Rebecca Black’s Friday stuck in my head, whether I like it or not! Speaking of her, did you hear? Friday is just a viral marketing campaign for a new movie, The Music Factory! And yes, Rebecca Black is the character played by Jessica Jones (that’s her real name). I got duped into feeling sorry for her! :(

Anyways, today I’m gonna show you my latest haul from LUSH and CoverGirl, obtained with some help from my sweet friend and fellow beauty blogger, Roseanne Tang! :)

Sponsored Review: Mentholatum Sunplay UV Body Mist Sunblock SPF 80 PA++ and Super Block Clear Finish SPF 130 PA+++

Sponsored Review

When was the last time you hit the beach? Believe it or not, before today, my last trip to the beach was sometime in 2002. Uh huh! I try to stay out of the harsh sunlight whenever possible because I tend to burn quickly under the sun. As I stay indoors most of the time, I use a good moisturiser with at least SPF 15 in it on a daily basis. I hate slathering thick sunblock on my body because it gives me that icky feeling!

Now, here’s a shot of the Pasir Ris beach taken this afternoon. Feel the soft sand underneath your feet, smell the salty sea breeze, admire the blue sky and enjoy the greenery all around! While this is not the most gorgeous beach, I felt refreshed just standing there! So… what brought me to the beach today?

Sponsored Review: Silkygirl Long-Wearing Eyeliner in 01 Black Black

Sponsored Review

My very first eyeliner was an automatic pencil type which I picked up at a drugstore. I can’t quite recall the brand, but it kept breaking when I was practising with it. After I got the hang of it (took me an entire pencil!), I started exploring felt tip, liquid, and gel eyeliners. Even though I’ve been mostly sticking to liquid and gel liners, I think it is good to have a mix of pencil, liquid and gel eyeliners in my stash.

I’ve been on the lookout for good pencil eyeliners, so when Silkygirl sent me this, I was thrilled. Time to expand my eyeliner collection! :)

Event: Orchard Fashion Runway and Asian Model Search 2011 at ION Orchard on Friday, 8 April 2011

On my trip to the ArtScience Museum last month, I met Belinda. We hardly spoke to each other during the trip, but we all had fun touring the exhibitions. Since then, we’ve been friends on Facebook as well. She is a photography aficionado! Sometime last week, Belinda asked if I would be keen on attending the Orchard Fashion Runway and Asian Model Search 2011 (she was attending the event on invitation by the Singapore Tourism Board ["STB"]) and of course I said yes! :)

As part of the Fashion Season @ Orchard (“FSO”) that runs from 25 March 2011 to 8 May 2011, Her World and Nuyou jointly organised the Orchard Fashion Runway which featured about 150 models dressed in the latest Spring/Summer Collection by popular labels including alldressedup, dENiZEN, Dockers, Levi’s, New Look, Paule Ka, Robinsons, T.M.Lewin, Vivienne Tam, strutting down a 160-metre outdoor runway right outside ION Orchard. 15 contestants of the Asian Model Search 2011 also walked the runway – who will bag the FSO Asian Model 2011 award?

We met outside ION Orchard, just in time for the cocktail reception at the Atrium. Here I am with Belinda and Shirley (of STB). We met up with Jin-ha (who was on an assignment for The New Paper) and Mark, who were already armed with their state-of-the-art photography equipment, ready to take on the runway.

Event: Vibe Official Opening at China Square Central on Thursday, 7 April 2011

Last July, I visited Nail Vibe at City Plaza for the first time and picked up some nail lacquer. Shortly after that, they reverted to online retail. Recently, I received news that they were opening a new store at China Square Central, a prime location in the Central Business District.

Simply called “Vibe”, the store is located on the second level of China Square Central, amongst many other retail stores (most of them selling toys and other collectibles). Flea market activities are held every Sunday – Skye and I have been visiting the flea market since a handful of years ago. The place always buzzes with excitement (mostly coming from the boys), and now the girls have a huge reason to be stoked, too!

Here we are, at Vibe. It’s beautiful! There were lots of girls (and their accompanying guy friends) at the store. As it was lunchtime way past lunchtime, I also overheard some of the girls exclaiming that they had to rush back to the office as they queued up to make payment for their nail loots. ;D
