♪♬ Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it
I know they’re wrong, wait and see
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me ♫♪♫
How are you all feeling this awesome Friday?! ;) Just in case you have not taken part in the blog’s October giveaway, it closes on Monday (that’s Halloween!) so join up!
Well, if you need another reason to smile, take a look at Rainbow Connection from OPI’s The Muppets collection. I got this exactly a week ago, and I couldn’t wait to show you guys! In fact, I’m wearing it on my nails as I write this post.
When I first saw this online, I couldn’t help but go, “Whoaaa….” - this is my first glitter polish from OPI and possibly one of the most gorgeous ever.
Here’s a close-up on the bottle. I’ll go cross-eyed if I stared too long!
Let me break down the glitters for you - orange, yellow, green, cyan, magenta and silver. They come in large, medium, and tiny hexagons (which almost look round).
Dazzled yet? :P
In the photo below (with indirect natural light), I have on just one coat of Rainbow Connection. I like that the base is clear – that way, I can layer it over any colour I want. The glitter applies sparsely, and sometimes you end up with large chunks on one side and barely a few on the other. You can, however, dip the brush around and try to even out the amount of glitter the brush picks up before applying the lacquer to your nails. Here, I’m just doing it without looking.
In the photo below (again, with indirect natural light), I have on two coats. See the difference an extra coat makes? While some people prefer to put on three coats, I think two coats is quite sufficient. I think Rainbow Connection makes the nails look really pretty – my nails sparkle like crazy, especially in the sunlight (just like Edward)! Sometimes, I catch myself in the mirror and it looks like I have crazy silver chrome nails.
IMO, Rainbow Connection is the solution to instant party nails. If you ever find yourself needing party nails done pronto, just put on two coats. It dries so quickly (in under a minute, I believe), is mistake-proof (well, even if you make a mistake no one can tell because all they see is crazy glitter), and so beautiful! It’s a really fun lacquer to have.
You’ll get asked if you really did your nails yourself because they are so mad awesome, people would wanna know who your manicurist is. ;) As for durability, don’t worry – the glitter is quite difficult to remove. Well, if you’re afraid of them falling off over the week, seal with a top coat.
Here’s another photo – same thing, two coats with indirect natural light.
So… how do you like Rainbow Connection? :) Or, do you already have it and love it? Share!
Have a great weekend!

I love it! I think it will be a great layering glitter as well as opaque with 3 or 4 good coats. I am disappointed how it photographs though.. don’t you think it looks much more dark and green in pictures than it does in real life? Anyway, I like it a lot! Have you tried the other Muppet Collection Glitters?
You’re right Nicole, this doesn’t photograph well. It does sparkle like crazy in the sun and under artificial lighting! It’s so shiny – like the nails are encrusted in jewels. :) I haven’t tried the rest but I did think of trying Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It.
Gettin Miss Piggy With It is awesome! It’s perfect bright Christmas red and the silver hex glitter is really pretty. That and Fresh Frog of Bel Air are PERFECT holiday colors. I bet if you get GMPWI you’ll love it! And… it photographs well. :)
