How I Spent the 12 Months of 2011 ❅

Hi everyone! Hope you all enjoyed Christmas! :)

As we embrace the remaining days of 2011, let’s reflect on what we’ve done over the last twelve months and prepare ourselves for the brand new dozen that will be upon us soon!

For me, 2011 has been a year of firsts and adventures, a year of challenges and self-realisation.

In this final week of 2011, I thought it would be fun to summarise my year. Here we go! ;D

January

Feasted my eyes on some of the most stunning haute couture gowns ever made by Valentino at my first fashion exhibition, picked up my long-neglected habit of reading and wrote my first book review, scored my first official advertisement, purchased my first pair of Chanel earrings.

Have I Been Naughty or Nice? Resolutions and Goals for 2012

Merry Christmas!

Time really does fly! It seems like yesterday that I shopped for last year’s Christmas cards. This year, I went with humourous ones decked in glitter. :)

So, I resolved to do several things last December. Before we embrace 2012, I should revisit that list of resolutions and see if I kept to it!

A Peek At My Style: Tiffany & Co Sterling Silver Apple Charm

You wouldn’t believe how bad Monday was for me!

It rained the entire weekend, and continued to pour on Monday morning as I headed to work. I must have been on the road when I dropped one of my Chanel earrings! :’(

I didn’t even realise it until after I had reached the office. Of course I had to go hunt for it in the rain. And so I went along the path I took, but I was unable to locate it. I was very upset. After thinking about it for a while, I came to the conclusion that I could have lost a lot more than an earring – I could have slipped, fallen, injured myself, or – worst-case scenario – died. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and this could be a blessing in disguise.

I had wanted to purchase a pair of earrings from Chanel’s latest collection a few weeks ago, but for some reason I didn’t. If I did, I could have ended up losing a brand new earring. With positive thoughts, I embraced the rest of Monday with a smile.

Actually, I think I may not buy a replacement pair. I would probably put the money towards something else – another Ferragamo headband perhaps? I’d like that. :)

Anyways, I wanna show you what my sister got me for Christmas! :)

A Slice of My Weekend: All Aboard The Singapore Flyer!

The weekend (albeit accompanied by intermittent downpours) went by too quickly! I managed to wrap up my Christmas shopping, repay a bit of that sleep debt… and have some fun!

On Saturday, I visited the Singapore Flyer for the first time ever. At 165 metres tall, the Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel and also one of Asia’s biggest tourist attractions.

I’ve been wanting to take a ride for a while, and my sister happened to have a few tickets so off we went! Well, we almost didn’t make it due to the heavy rain, but thank goodness the rain ceased sometime in the late afternoon.

Christmas Surprise from Renesmee! ❄

Christmas is still slightly more than a week away, but I’ve already got my first surprise! :)

Last Tuesday, I received a Sephora bag from Renesmee. In it were these – a copy of Benefit Cosmetics’s Winter 2011 catalog, and a wrapped item with a card attached to it.

What could it be?!

I Foiled My Nails!

Happy Hump Day! :) I finally caught Breaking Dawn on Sunday night – it was mad awesome. I can’t wait for the next part! I’ve had Bruno Mars’s It Will Rain stuck in my head for four days. Beautiful song.

So I was at Nail Vibe about two weeks ago, and I spotted some new arrivals – nail foils! I picked one up immediately. I’ve been wanting to get my nails done at Minx, but for some reason have not got around to doing it. Here’s a perfect opportunity to do it myself. Read on to find out if I succeeded! ;)

Sponsored Review: Sophie Monk Strawberry Blackhead Bye Bye Set, V Shaping & Pore Minimizing Double Lifting Masks

Sponsored Review

Recently, I was sent these Sophie Monk products for review. I have never bought anything Sophie Monk before, but these aren’t my first either - Graclyn sent me a couple of masks (amongst other goodies) a few months back! :)

Here we have the Pore Minimizing Double Lifting Mask, V Shaping Double Lifting Mask and Strawberry Blackhead Bye Bye Set. Makiyo, the brand’s ambassador, was in town recently for a promotional session.

Of the three, I was most curious about the Strawberry Blackhead Bye Bye Set as it appears similar to another (rather effective) blackhead mask I had used previously, but which cost twice as much. Could this be a more affordable alternative? We’ll find out!

A Superhero Movie Parody Poster Project for Piramide Groep

I’ve been meaning to blog about this for a while, and I finally have some time to do so! I wanted to show you guys a poster project that Skye and I worked on earlier this year (sometime in April) upon the request of his cousin Aileen, who works in The Netherlands.

The poster was done to promote a charity event organised by her office, Piramide Groep. Basically, some of her colleagues signed up as cyclists to raise funds for their Kidney Foundation. Purely for charity, each of them were going to cycle 240km in one day. We were told by Aileen that these volunteer cyclists had never cycled 240km in a yearlet alone in a day! It is heartening to know that these selfless volunteers were willing to put in so much time and effort for the sake of a good cause.

The funds collected from the event helped send a Dutch national team of athletes take part in the World Transplant Games.

Now, for the twist to the poster – Aileen had envisioned the design of the poster based on one theme – superhero movie parody.  See, the cyclists were actually pitting themselves against the forces of nature and challenging themselves for the sake of charity. As these are not your regular athletes, Aileen wanted to portray them as overweight versions of superheroes.

Right here in this tube, are copies of the A1-sized “movie” posters (yes, they are huge!) which Aileen sent us as keepsake. Did Skye and I manage to pull it off? ;) Read on to find out!

A Peek At My Style: Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan Air Bacara Ballet Flats (With My Kindle at Spinelli)

How many of you have fussy feet? Feet that won’t tolerate that tiny bit of exposed seam or uneven material and blister at every opportunity.

To say mine are fussy is an understatement. I’ve had problems with 95% of the shoes I own and I’m still on the hunt for the perfect pair of ballet flats! I’ve done endless research on the most comfortable pair of flats – many say French Sole, Hush Puppies, Repetto, you name it – but none of those worked for me.

Most ballet flats have badly-made soles and the pair which I found most comfortable have soles that are so thin, they wore out in a matter of weeks. I tried to replace the soles with something sturdier, and guess what? The material ripped. Bummer!

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a pair of Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan Air Bacara ballet flats after reading extensive reviews and trying them out for myself at the boutique.

Here’s a photo of me wearing them last weekend. I had my Kindle 3 with me – a birthday gift from my lovely sister! :) This was taken at Nankin Row, and I was headed for Nail Vibe and Spinelli at China Square Central.

Product Review: Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Exfoliating Body Scrub with Fine Pumice

Any of you been to Crabtree & Evelyn lately? Well, I have! They were having a major sale. There were two prominent queues – one for those queueing to get into the store, the other for those ready to pay. Thank goodness I was just there to collect a bag of stuff!

Year after year, we see shoppers going crazy at Crabtree & Evelyn. I understand the attraction – I’m a huge fan of their Jojoba Oil Moisturising Body Wash! :)

Weeks ago (I think it was sometime in September or October, way before the sale), I popped by the store and stocked up on the Jojoba Oil Moisturising Body Wash. At the same time, I purchased a tube of the La Source Exfoliating Body Scrub with Fine Pumice which I had been wanting to buy since I came across several positive reviews on it. I find the blue rather refreshing and attractive!
