Sponsored Review: What’s Inside BellaBox April 2014 – Innovative Beauty

Sponsored Review

I’m up to my neck in work and therefore am very thankful for the long weekend! I hope you’re enjoying your break; I’m taking this time to write a little, seeing that the coming week will be packed with – you guessed it – more work! Today, we take a look at the April 2014 edition of BellaBox: Innovative Beauty.

Well, what’s innovation without some technology. You see that QR code sticker here? Go ahead, scan it. Scan it now, right from your monitor. I’ll wait.

Done? Cool ain’t it! I love QR codes. Especially when I have no idea what it’s gonna show.

This month, I’m especially taken by one innovative product I found in my box. ;)

Sponsored Review: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Calming Lotion with Soy & Oat Blend

Sponsored Review

Happy Hump Day, all! :) On the health front, I aim to eat very clean this week – I’m cutting out all refined/processed foods and eating clean for 7 full days – giving my system a break. If you haven’t tried clean eating, you should! And let me know how it works for you. Alright! Today’s post is all about Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Calming Lotion with Soy & Oat Blend which was launched early this year.

A couple of months ago, I reviewed their Cocoa Butter Formula All Over Body Firming Lotion - how many of you have tried that already? You would probably notice, in terms of packaging, that the two look rather similar – same white 250ml plastic squeeze bottle and snap cap.

The Daily Calming Lotion was designed especially for sensitive, dry and irritable skin and based on the same Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E. This product comes with an additional soy & oat blend, which is said to have soothing, moisturising and calming properties, with oat being anti-inflammatory and relieving skin irritations such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis, and soy being rich in proteins, amino acids, minerals and vitamins. (Speaking of oats, have you checked out my low-calorie recipe for overnight oats? Many people have tried and loved it!)

It is indicated that the product also contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids to help exfoliate dry, flaky patches, and Chamomile and Lavender Extract to provide additional soothing benefits. Sounds promising! And you know what? If you thought the All Over Body Firming Lotion is a steal, this costs even less – only SGD9.90!

Sponsored Review: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula All Over Body Firming Lotion

Sponsored Review

Once in a while, my experience with a product completely changes the way I look at a brand. It usually happens when the brand sends me a request to review something I’ve seen on the shelves but never considered buying – either because I’ve got my staples, or it just sounds too good to be true. Palmer’s is one such brand, and Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula All Over Body Firming Lotion is something I fell in love with recently – I call it “chocolate for my skin”! :)

You know what? I was told this retails at SGD13.90 for a bottle of 250ml; it really is bang for your buck. For those of you who aren’t already familiar with Palmer’s, the brand was founded in America more than 170 years ago (!) and has since made its presence known in over 80 countries. I like that the brand is against animal testing and all of its products are cruelty-free. By the way, if you’ve always had an interest in competitive swimming, you would probably know champion-swimmer-turned-TV-personality Giaan Rooney? Old news, but I recently found out that she’s the face of Palmer’s!

Alrighty, let’s have a look at it. This newly-launched lotion is contained in a plastic squeeze bottle topped with a snap cap, which makes for convenient product dispensation (the pump remains my favourite, though). Formulated with Cocoa ButterCollagenElastin and Shea Butter along with GinsengVitamin and Coenzyme Q10, the lotion is designed to help firm, tighten and tone the skin, even after weight loss.

Sponsored Review: What’s Inside BellaBox June 2012 – Summer Upgrade

Sponsored Review

Sweet weekend! It’s Saturday, and I’m blogging really early in the morning cos after this I’m running out for some fun! Speaking of fun, have you visited the Harry Potter exhibition at the ArtScience Museum already? I plan to go sometime early July. My my my… can’t believe it’s actually happening!

Okay, you may have read my reviews of the previous editions of BellaBoxFebruary, March, April and May. This month, however, there has been some changes at BellaBox.

Firstly, notice something about this box? There isn’t any postal mark on it! That’s because these boxes are now hand-delivered by BellaBox, even on Sundays. I was surprised when I received mine at the office hand-delivered by a nice lady (instead of via the usual registered post). At first I thought she was here to see someone from the office, and coincidentally had a BellaBox with her. Haha!

With the new delivery arrangement, and other factors including BellaBox working directly with the brands and/or their authorised distributors for quality assurance, there’s been a price increase! New members who sign up on or after 21 June 2012 will pay SGD19.95 per month (instead of the usual SGD15). Existing members will continue to pay SGD15 for the July 2012 edition, and will only have to pay SGD19.95 from August 2012 onwards. For those of you on a one-year subscription, the new rate will apply on the next billing cycle. More details available on BellaBox’s site.

Product Review: Chanel No. 5 Velvet Body Cream

Before I start the review proper, I would just like to say:

HAPPY 46TH BIRTHDAY, SINGAPORE!

Yes, it’s National Day today (public holiday, yay!) and we’re all eagerly anticipating the National Day Parade! :) Lots of people I know will be performing tonight, and I’m gonna stay glued to the telly.

Since I’m on the birthday topic, I will be turning 26 next Saturday, and that’s when the giveaway post will be up on the blog. Watch this space! ;)

Today, I’m reviewing the Chanel No. 5 Velvet Body Cream, which has become one of my favourite body products. I love the Chanel carrier – clean, crisp and simple, it cheers me up every time I look at it, and reminds me of Mademoiselle Chanel’s mantra – less is more.

Sponsored Review: Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Body Butter

Sponsored Review

Woohoo, Friday! Have you any plans to shop this weekend? :) Check out Sephora for a dose (or multiple doses) of Soap & Glory!

Today, we look at The Righteous Butter, which was included in the parcel I received from Soap & Glory London HQ. :) It’s a cute mini 50ml tub (there’s a 300ml version available too)!

Truth be told, I am hardly the body butter fanatic. Meaning, I don’t moisturise the skin on my body diligently. Thanks to the excellent bath products I use, an example of which can be found here, my skin remains well-moisturised even if I skip the body moisturiser. Yes, I have been spoilt rotten by great bath products. It’s high time I start paying more attention to my skin, especially since I’m holed up in an air-conditioned office for at least nine hours a day, five days a week! Will The Righteous Butter change me for the better?
