Recently, I took part in another Facebook contest organised by IPOS and won a Harry Potter DVD set comprising 6 movies! :D Being a Harry Potter fan, I couldn’t resist entering the contest.
Early this week, I got a heads-up that I’d won a book in a Facebook contest organised by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (“IPOS”).
I’ve always been interested in intellectual property law. IMO, having your work stolen is one of the most infuriating things in life. Don’t you want to know your rights and the laws that protect your hard work?
I recall my class being given a tutorial assignment which required every one of us to borrow a book on an area of law which we had not yet covered, bring the book to class, and explain why we chose that particular book. Fortunately, we were only in year one then, so we had lots of choices! Naturally, I chose a book on intellectual property law. :)
When we were due to go on internship, I had the opportunity to do research on intellectual property law. My internship company needed information on patent application. They invented something simple, but amazing and extremely practical. They showed it to me and I learnt to dismantle the product in two seconds flat. Reassembling it took another two seconds. It was kind of cool then; at that time, we were not yet taught intellectual property law. (And it helped that my office was only a 5-minute drive away from school. The school’s research facilities were definitely useful!) Strangely, I never applied to IPOS for a job. Well, who knows what will happen in the future, right? ;)
Anyways, back to the prize reveal. I won The Wonderful Future That Never Was: Flying Cars, Mail Delivery by Parachute and Other Predictions from the Past by Gregory Benford and The Editors of Popular Mechanics.
It started to pour when I was making my way to the Museum. Why does it always rain on movie event days? (See Tron: Legacy post.)
Anyways, the good folks at Yesterday.sg had a wonderful program planned for the evening! Registration started at 6:00pm right outside the Gallery Theatre at the Basement of the Museum.
Here’s the package which I received yesterday. *does that little dance*
I’m gonna do a reveal! So, how does Kao reward its bloggers…?
TANGS salutes women this Fall.
Did you know that TANGS recently launched the newly refurbished Wardrobe Women concept at TANGS Orchard with new brands and a new look? With the revamp comes celebration – that in the form of the “I Am Woman” campaign, which is in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness month. The campaign features a fashion event which was held on Friday, 15 October 2010 at TANGS Orchard. Click here to see how TANGS supports the Breast Cancer Foundation!
When I think “woman”, I think of strong, classic and inspirational ones such as Grace Kelly, Judy Garland, and Audrey Hepburn, to name a few.
In the campaign poster below, the models portray (from left) Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel. I am sure the said icons require no introduction! :)
On Friday, 1 October 2010, TANGS launched the Facebook Friday contest via their Facebook page.
Anyways, here’s my submission. This look was created using Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Strut, and Velvet Eyeshadows in Bikini Line and Fawn Over Me. Though you probably can’t really see much of Fawn Over Me in the photo. The look is safari-inspired, and I thought the embellished top went really well with the eyeshadow colours.
